Meet Lorraine
|
I
am 57 and live in New Zealand with Brice, my partner of 16 years and a very
special girl called Lucy. She had a black Labrador mother and a fox terrier
father. We live on a farm where we fatten cattle and sheep and do some cropping.
We also have an agricultural contracting business.
My
grandmother was a dressmaker so I started sewing when I was about 10 on an
industrial singer. I have always done handwork i.e. Knitting, tatting,
tapestries, crochet, cross stitch, hardranger and of course quilting. I have
always given my quilts away to non quilters so they all think I am a good
quilter. I still enjoy dressmaking and after many machines am now in love with
my Pfaff.
I
have worked all my life until about 6 years when I retired. I was in the Police
for many years and did undercover drug work which took me all over the U.S.,
some of Canada and London England. I was a commissioned officer in the Navy
before opting for a quiet life in my own business selling fashion. I was also a
qualified shearer and wool classer.
My
sports are croquet, cycling and snow skiing. I love gardening, especially roses
and have about 40 at present. I love to travel and learn of other cultures and
