I
am 74 yrs old, the mother of 6 grown children and grandmother of 12 from age 29
to 4. When I retired, I joined one of my
daughters and her family here on
Coastal Maine..
I
have sewn since Jr High School, mostly clothes for myself and my children, and
gifts for family and friends. I started to quilt with a group here on the Island
when I retired 14 years ago. I learned a lot from this group, and with books,
TV, and videos, have continued to learn until quilting has become my passion.
I am
in the process of trying to complete a bed size quilt for each of my
grandchildren. Five are completed, the sixth is almost all quilted, a seventh
top is awaiting borders and I have actually started the eighth, a Storm at Sea.
People who come to the Island always ask "what do we do all winter". We are a
very busy group. I take an exercise class three times a week, belong to the
Cooperative Extension Homemakers Council. I am a member of our Garden Club and
the Friends of the Library and a bible study group. I also help with getting our
Island Newspaper, The WIND out in the mail to our subscribers every week. In
addition to this we have a small quilting group and another small group that
knits. All of this keeps me quite busy in retirement.
I
found #QuiltChat three years ago and find myself coming into the room at least
once a day. I have found this to be a very friendly place to visit and have met
many wonderful people. It has added much to my life, especially in the winter
months when I amunable to get out as often. I look forward to our chats.
