Becky at Lake Leanore

* My name is Becky, or Maude, or t^maude, or "Come for dinner," any
of these will work. I live in Washington State although I am an Arkansan
through and through. I have two children in college at the moment, but one will
graduate in December, the Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise. My
husband works for the US Dept of Agriculture as a Resource Conservationist
(which makes going on a road trip interesting--we have stopped on the side
of the road to see what kinds of grasses were growing there).

* I work in a second hand book store and my specific job is listing books to
sell online and then shipping them out when they sell. One of the perks of
my job is that I get to see all the books as they come in and I can grab the
good quilting books to take home and use.

*I started sewing when I was 14, and made my first quilt then--a very ugly
little thing for my first niece.  I love doing handwork--hand piecing, hand
quilting, I find it very relaxing, and for me, hand piecing is much easier
to make the awkward seams come out better.  I am something of a maverick
when it comes to quilting--I like making up my own designs--although
drafting individual blocks is something I haven't quite mastered. I am
 working on it, though!

My only claims to greatness are the three great-nieces and one great-nephew
that I have.

*I find it very amazing the connections to others you can make in this
chatroom. I have never met any of these ladies in person, but there are a
number of them whom I consider friends.  You can usually find me running
amok in the chatroom in the evenings while I watch television and/or do
 handwork.

*Some of my philosophies are:
My idea of cleaning house is sweeping the room with a glance.
Neat people never make the exciting kinds of discoveries I do.
Well behaved women seldom make history.
